39 speakers, moderators and scientific committee members made the scientific program in Shanghai inspirational and successful, filled with innovation and knowledge.

Over 1,500 guests from all over the world made Shanghai the most visited tour stop on the World Summit Tour and made inspiration, knowledge and confidence come alive.

The interactive session Inspiration TALKS, where the scientific panel debate and answer questions from the audience live on stage.

11 inspiring scientific sessions on implant dentistry to choose from in the congress program, a unique combination of current scientific news and the latest innovations in clinical and digital development.

In the Science Hub you could find out more about the Dentsply Sirona Implants global clinical research and the R& D leakage machine, as well as explore the implant surface with the virtual reality glasses.

With 53 submitted posters, the Scientific Committee Shanghai selected the two winning posters in the categories Research and Clinical Application

1920 in Shanghai

A 100-year journey back in time, to the Art Deco hub of Chinese and Western culture in the 1920s, was the theme of the inspirational evening event.

Delegates and staff were busy discussing new products, solutions and concepts at the Inspiration Hub.

125 square meters

The 25-meter wide and 5-meter high screen in Grand Shanghai Ballroom made sure that all guests got an extraordinary experience when attending the scientific program.

Lots of activities, events and interactions in the Inspiration Hub exhibition area, where delegates took the opportunity to have a first look at the Astra Tech Implant System EV.

16.5 hours

16.5 hours when delegates could network, discover and learn more about the latest innovations and treatment solutions in the Inspiration Hub exhibition area.

Poster Competition

Thank you to everyone that submitted poster abstracts and congratulations to the winners of the Poster Competition at the Shanghai tour stop. The winning posters will continue to the Global Poster Competition, where two global winners will be announced after the last tour stop in Shanghai.

Winner in the Research category with the poster titled “A prospective, multi-center study assessing early loading with short implants in posterior regions: a 3-year post-loading follow-up study”

Scientific Committee comments:

This poster reported a prospective, multi-center clinical study, in which OsseoSpeed TX of Astra Tech Implant System of size 4.0s x 6mm were used in posterior area of the partial edentulous jaw to support splinted crowns or bridges. In the 3-year follow-up, high successful rate, stable marginal bone level and health soft tissue status were observed. The scientific material support us as a reference to our daily practice.

Winner in the Clinical Application category with the poster titled “Astra Tech Implant System used in primary mandibular reconstruction with fibula flap: simultaneous implantation and secondary restoration

Scientific Committee comments:

This poster reported a case which shows us using digital technique, restoration-driven implant installation combined with jawbone augmentation by fibula flap could help a severe oral cancer patient to rebuild the structure and function of the mouth. The implants were placed using bicortical fixation technique to optimize the strain distribution and this could benefit the long-term success of the reconstruction.

Jan Lindhe is Professor emeritus of Gothenburg University, Sweden. He has published research on etiology and pathogenesis of periodontal disease, effect of treatment procedures, preventive dentistry and implant dentistry.


Marc Quirynen, CHAIRMAN
Marc Quirynen, CHAIRMAN

Marc Quirynen is Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (Department Periodontology) of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. His research area deals mainly with microbiology, implantology, and the use of L-PRF. He has published over 400 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He is associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and member of the editorial board of Clinical Oral Implants Research, Journal of Dental Research, Periodontal Practice Today, and Parodontologie.
